Originally built in 1926 as a small hotel, Bishop Gate emerged from restoration as eight fully-appointed one-bedroom apartments at 706 N. Bishop Ave. Its Mission style was a 1920’s import from Southern California. Florid colors in the common areas compliment white-washed walls and nut-brown floors inside each unit. Throughout the building, original fixtures have been refurbished, buffed bright, and put back in service. Outside, any space not needed for parking is devoted to shaded patios and colorful native plants. Every resident at Bishop Gate enjoys a walk-in closet, home office, and laundry closet, plus surprising nooks and niches to store even more. Several units have locking overflow storage off common hallways. Grounds are gated, and tenants control access to the building.
